The new Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB), formed by its 2012 merger with two
other joint stock banks, Viet Nam Tin Nghia and De Nhat, is turning
things around after a difficult start.
Banks plan to explore mergers or acquisition of financial institutions,
as well as the establishment of new financial companies, to ensure a
healthier bottom line by offering more consumer loans.
A recent trend in the bank-ing and finance industry is that commercial
banks are looking to buy finance companies in an attempt to have
"special tools" to facilitate their business activities.
